In the beginning of August of each year, there is a bagpiper's contest in the village of Gela with the participation of bagpipers from the whole region. There is no age restriction, everyone takes part: from 14-year old boys to Bay Dafo who is the oldest bagpiper in the village. Not only does he play but he also makes pipes. Bay Dafo says that he doesn't sell his bagpipes to everyone. “A bagpipe is not a souvenir to hang on the wall” he says. The village of Gela has its own folklore group, which takes part to international folklore festivals every year.
